Digium AEX800 is the first eight-port VoIP board for the PCI Express bus.
In addition to its Asterisk hardware devices, Digium has introduced the new Digium AEX800 port card. According to the company, it is the first expansion card equipped with eight FXO / FXS ports and designed for VoIP systems with a PCI Express bus.
The AEX800 board occupies one PCI Express slot and is equipped with eight RJ-11 sockets. This, firstly, reduces the need for seats in the server case, and, on the other hand, eliminates the need for additional extension cables and other additional elements, for potential reasons Vidmov.
The AEX800 port is configured independently from others for operation in intra-station or inter-interface mode. Hardware echo-muting features, available on all eight channels, provide the ability to improve coupling.

Traditionally, the board allows you to select almost any configuration with FXO and FXS ports. For this AEX800P there are two banks of ports with 4 analog interfaces. Each bank can install either a 4-port module S400M (FXS) or X400M (FXO), or 2 single-port modules S110M (FXS) or X100M (FXO). Apparently, the use of 4-port modules is ideal for achieving maximum capacity. Also, the support of single-port modules allows owners of Asterisk boards based on TDM400P to switch to the PCI Express bus, loading only the AEX800P baseboard without additional modules.
Like Digium's front-end boards, the AEX800P board can be equipped with an optional VPMADT032 hardware echo-muting module. When this option is available, echo cancellation uses the High Performance Echo Cancellation (HPEC) solution, which adheres to the G.168 specification and echo cancellation in the range of 16 to 128 ms.
